Portraits – professionals

PROFESSIONALS

Tired of being shy about, or even embarrassed, by your professional photos?  Time for a change!

“It means the world to me not to be embarrassed by my photo. What a blessing.”
Dr DH, University of Oxford

I work with professionals and organisations from a wide range of backgrounds and sectors, including those in business, charity and public sectors, arts and music and academia.

DO I NEED NEW HEADSHOTS? I GOT SOME NICE ONES DONE IN 1996…

Most people feel at least a little nervous when they think about getting a new headshot or set of images to represent them professionally, and linkedin, for example, stands testimony to that fact, awash with many an ancient photo.

Good, up-to-date images can be really important in a world where facial recognition is a big part of how the human brain works.  Research into how people explore websites has found that most people browsing spend much more time looking at portraits and other images than words.  People like to see other people.

GIVE YOUR CAREER & CONFIDENCE A BOOST

This shoot is a great way to refresh your professional look and materials in a safe setting.  It is also a way to boost your confidence, not just your work.

“I was rather nervous at having some professional business portrait pictures taken – I don’t think I look good in photographs, and was quite nervous at how they’d turn out […] Seeing good pictures of myself have made me, personally, rather more confident, which is a double bonus!”
Sue D

My work is about showing individuals how great they look without airbrushing, and my relaxed and editorial professional portraits leave my clients feeling ready to face the world and do their thing.  I work on location and prefer to use natural light and real backgrounds (if only vague and blurry) to make my headshots more visually interesting.  White-background, studio-feel headshots are not the primary focus of my headshot shoots, but if a couple of these shots would be useful, to compliment the other more creative images, I am always happy to bring along a pop-up background.

“Mim chose some fantastic locations for the photoshoot that resonated with what I was aiming for, as well as bringing her own interpretation. She advised me on what to wear and made me feel at ease during the shoot. It’s never easy to feel comfortable doing these type of photos but Mim’s friendliness and encouragement really helped. I’m thrilled with the photos and will be using them on my site and also the covers of my novels.”
